Who shall we entreat apart from Lord Shiva? You are the one who is compassionate to the poor, the one who gets rid of His bhaktas' suffering and a competent God in every possible way.(1)
During the churning of the ocean when the gods and demons were about to be burnt by kalakuta, ( vomited by the serpent king Vasuki, under strain as the churn), the toxic poison, You instantly drank it to safeguard your vow of showering mercy on the needy. When Tripurasura, the fearsome demon began to inflict painful sorrow on the world, you quickly killed him with just an arrow.(2)
O Sadashiva, the highest condition(: merging of the soul with the Ultimate Being) which saints-mahatmas, Vedas and all the Puranas claim is difficult to attain by even great sages! You grant precisely the same supreme state, equally to everyone who dies in Kashi.(3)
O husband of Parvati! O Supreme Being! You are easily attainable when one serves You. You are the magnanimous One who grants a person's wish like the kalpavriksha (one of the fabulous trees of Krishna's paradise that grants all desires). You are the enemy of Kamdev (name of the god of love). O Kripanidhan! (reservoir of grace) Grant love for Shri Ram's feet to Tulsidas ji, for this very reason.(4)
