Simple Meaning:
The Moonlike Face of Lord Krishna
O Supreme Being! Let me ever see the orb of Your moonlike face which is the abode of Your charming dalliance
and Your high-sounding flute-play till destroying all my emotions and
ensnaring my senses in delusion, the tenth stage of man (death) does
not come upon me through some physical defect.
The Rasa-laden Commentary:
The Ineffable Beauty of Lord Krishna
Shri Bilavmangal ji had described his painful
anguish of separation (from Lord Krishna) in the previous shloka. In
the present shloka, apprehensive of the stage of death, his heart tormented
by separation wails for the last glimpse (of Lord Krishna) with extreme eagerness, “ O Lord!
Grant me a glimpse of Your moonlike face, the abode of Your ineffable
beauty and charm. It may not happen that I give up my body without seeing
You. This pain arising due to its absence(of your darshan) will continue
for several births to come. In fact, You are omnipotent and compassionate.
Listen to my call and quench the thirst of my eyes.
Supreme Lover, Lord Krishna
O Ruler of my heart!
O Supreme Lover! Make me hear the melodious sound of Your flute along by granting a glimpse of Your face, just once. If the enchanting play
of Your fortunate flute reaches my ear drums before I pass away and
die, my life will be truly blessed.
Shri Bilavmangal ji Pines for Lord Krishna
Indeed, O my Lord! It seems that my life will
surely come to an end now. I am not able to exist withou seeing You but the pain that I could not drink the
nectar of Your moonlike face loaded with sweetness, will keep effecting
my heart.
The Flute Play & Sweet Face of Lord Krishna
Shri Bilavmangal ji is calling out, again and
again, in a distressed tone,” O Essence of by my being! Indeed, if death befalls me without seeing the sweet flute play of Your moonlike
face and Your sweet moonlike face beautified by the nectar of Your
flute play, my death will ill-fated. And if death strikes me while
I am glimpsing You then I will consider myself to be highly fortunate,
having accomplished the purpose of my life. That death will be
bestowing supreme happiness on me.
