Chapter 45: Shri Maharaj ji's Ill Health

Dakor

Shri Kamla Shankar, a devotee of Shri Maharajji, used to live in Dakor. He was  greatly grieved due to his wife's death and had  written several letters to Shriji. So Shriji had got reservation done from Delhi in July 1978(Shravan[1] month) for consoling him, getting down at Indore first. I had gone home to Maheshwar in June.

Indore

As soon as Shriji reached Indore he became very unwell and began having nausea. He got frequent loose motions and began vomiting. Shriji was staying at the residence of Radheshyam Gupta who was Hiralalji's son-in-law and Assistant Director of Agriculture. He showed Shriji to a couple of doctors living nearby but there was no relief and the ailment kept escalating in a span of two days. Shri Radheshyam was very worried and rang up Shri Hiralalji from Bhopal.

Maharaja Yashwant Rao Hospital, Indore
Hiralalji arrived and instantly called for Dr.A.C. Jain, the senior most doctor of Maharaja Yashwant Rao Hospital.

Doctors of all hospitals respected Shri Hiralalji because he was Secretary to the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. On examining Shriji, Dr. Jain said that the ailment was due to a steep rise in the blood sugar level and insisted that Shriji should be hospitalised at once. There had been loss of water in his body and treatment could not be given at home.

Dr. Jain himself took Shriji to the hospital by car immediately. Getting the Student's Special Ward opened and seeing that new bedding was spread out, he had all the proper arrangements done.

Shri Ghanshyamji & Shri Manohar Bhaiya

Thakurji (Ghanshyamji) was with him all the time. Shri Hiralalji's daughter Radha had come over from Bhopal. Sending a telegram, Ghanshyamji had called me from Maheshwar. Shriji's uneasiness had reached its zenith. Five bottles of glucose were given continuously and injections were administered, bringing about some relief. The body had become extremely weak. Shriji was given just milk, fruits and soup for a week. The programme to visit Barwani, Lonara and Dakor was postponed and information was sent to all the places.

Barwani

Dr. Chandra Deo and Sukhlal Bhai from Lonara, as well as Shri Pannabhai and Motibhai  from Barwani had come over with their families to see Shriji at Indore. Seven days later, Shriji was brought to Radheshyam Gupta's house from the hospital.
