Chapter 57: Shriji Thinks of Residing in Seclusion (part 2)

Shri Radhashtami

“ I won't go to Gorakhpur but you must go there for Radhashtami tomorrow. Come back after four to five days. I will be meet you right here,” Shirji told him.

Even on Ghanshyamji's vehement refusal Shriji forcibly sent him to Gorakhpur. At Gita Vatika everyone was stupefied to see him alone and asked where Maharajji was? When Ghanshyamji told them about all that had transpired everyone was very dejected.
Shri Radha Baba

“ Maharajji hasn't come?” Shri Baba asked.

On Ghanshaymji's replying that he hadn't Shri Baba remarked, “You are looking incomplete without him!”

Panchkula

At this end, Shriji went back to Panchkula after seeing Ghanshyamji off to Gorakhpur in a train at Ambala.

He wrote a letter to Ghanshyamji in Gorakhpur from Panchkula: ' Don't come here before the fifteenth. By that time I will roam around somewhere and come back.'

After consulting Harish Chadda, Shriji reached Delhi in his car

Shri Ranchodraji Temple, Dakor

and left for Dakor from there.

What shall I say when everyone will ask me about your whereabouts?” Harish asked him,”

A passenger train was standing at the railway station. Pointing towards it Shri Maharajji said, “ Tell them that I have gone to Kosi by the passenger train.”

Harish Chadda told the above sentence to one and all. Everybody was very dejected on hearing this and began accusing Harish of being such a foolish person.

“Shriji does not keep good health and he never travels except by an air conditioned coach. Even on being aware of this fact Harish has behaved so unwisely. Shriji must have had to bear such inconvenience in the passenger train,” they moaned.

Shri Deviji

Shri Deviji sent Kusumji to Delhi to find out about Shriji's whereabouts. Bhagwan also went along with her. On reaching Faridabad they got the same information which had been conveyed by phone to Vrindavan. All of us were very dejected. We sent Vrindavan Das to Kosi, Nagaria but could find no trace of Shriji. Once again, we lost the gem we had chanced upon. Everyone missed their meals and did not eat a bite. Telegrams were sent and phone calls were frantically made to far off places, once more.

At this end, Ghanshyamji came to Ambala on the eleventh, earlier than the date which had been decided upon. He learnt about everything that had taken place from Harish. Soon after, Ghanshyamji was pained to the core and came to Delhi. He talked to us about all that had taken place on the phone.

“ You come back to Vrindavan,” suggested Deviji.

“ I will not come to Vrindavan.  I will try once to find Shriji. In case I fail I will don the guise of an exile and go to live in some small village of Braj,”Shri Ghanshyamji responded.

Shri Lalji managed to stop Ghanshyamji somehow, asking him to wait for three to four days in accordance with Shriji's letter. Shri Ghanshyamji got ready to go to Panchkula once again when a phone call of Kuldip Chadda's neighbour came to Lalji's house saying that Shri Maharajji was there for the night and was about to go somewhere in the morning. He could probably come to Delhi. So Ghanshyamji stayed back.

Rasa Lila

'Rasa' was being enacted by the theatre troupe of Swami Shri Ramji in Yamuna Nagar. Ghanshyamji went to meet Kuldip by the way and seeing Shriji there his joy knew no bounds. Next day, seeing the rasa of Shri Ramji's troupe Shri Maharajji reached Lalji's place in Delhi at about 4 o'clock.

Shri Ghanshyamji rang up Vrindavan and disclosed, “Shriji has come back. Resting here for a couple of days and staying at Shiv Kumar's place in Khurja for a day he will be coming to Vrindavan.”

Venu Vinod Kunja, Vrindavan

Everyone got a new lease of life on receiving the telegram. Shriji came to Vrindavan at the determined time. Once again the Kunj was full of delightful joy.

During this period a couple of letters from Shriji had been received from some unknown place, in which it had been written: 'I have not left for some worldly reason but to fulfil my own purpose, which I hope to accomplish in six months and then I shall return on my own.'

However, Shriji stayed for merely six days in seclusion at Dakor instead of six months and returned in just eight to ten days.

Lord Krishna

On questioning he did not say anything clearly but one could infer from Shriji's talk that Lord Krishna had fulfilled his desire in six days in place of six months. It was a matter related to the transcendental world which had got realized.

A few days later, members of Shriji's parikar asked him out of curiosity, “ Maharajji! How did you reach Dakor? Where did you stay? etc.,”

He kept evading the answer for a few days and then revealed one thing after another in quick succession, which has been summarized below as follows:

Shriji reached Ratlam by train from Delhi. He went to an old devotee Utsav Lal's place because of being very tired. Taking refreshments he rested there for some time.

Travelling via Dahod he    reached Dakor between 10:00 and 10:30. Journeying constantly without having meals had made him very exhausted. Dakor is about two miles away from the station. No tonga or rickshaw was available at that late hour and Shriji did not have the energy to walk.

In the meantime a cart pusher offered to help out, “Sit down in my cart.”

Sitting down in that push cart Shriji reached the 'Vallabh Bhavan Dharamshala' near Rancchodraiji Mandir. He called out to the manager who refused to give place to a stranger at that unearthly hour.

In fact, Shriji had many loving devotees in Dakor at whose houses he had stayed for as long as two months off and on. But this time neither did he want to put up at anyone's place nor did he want to meet any known person.

Thus a problem loomed in front of him. It was burdensome to walk even a single step due to extreme exhaustion.

Meanwhile, a man standing in the dark piped in, “hun maharajji ne aulkhon chhon (I know Maharajji!)”

Soon after, the manager confirmed, “ tum aulkhon chhon ! (Oh, you know him!) and opened a room instantly for Shriji to take rest.

Thakur Ranchodraiji

It need not be said that Shri Rancchodraiji[7] Himself had intervened, in the form of that man in the dark, for the well-being of Shriji. In the morning Shriji went to Puneet Ashram which was a mile away and stayed in a room for six days. He would have only half a kilo of milk in a day.

One fine day Shriji was going to have darshan of Shri Rancchodraiji when he met Tara Behan, Rukmini Behan and Ranchhodasji's son Kanhaiya on the way. They were the ones who spotted Shriji and insisted that he come home with them.

Saying, “ I will come again,' Shriji excused himself and left for Panchkula the very next day. Shri Shuklaji and Vidyadharji had gone from Indore to Dakor to search for Shriji but he could not be found.

All the devotees of Shriji, who lived away from Vrindavan were sent messages of his safe return to Vrindavan. With the coming of Maharajji who was the icon of delight, the breeze of happiness began blowing in Venu Vinod Kunj once again.
