37th & 38 Verses of Shri Hanuman Bahuk and Shri Ramraksha Stotra

Shri Hanuman Bahuk: 37th Verse

Ghanaksharee (polysyllabic name of a Hindi metre)

Kaalkee karaaltaa karam kathinaaee keedhaaun,

Paapke prabhaavkee subhaaya baaya baavre |

Bedan kubhaanti so sahee na jaati raati din,

Soee baanh gahee jo gahee sameerdaavre ||

Laayo taru Tulsee tihaaro so nihaari baari,

Seenchiye maleen bho tayo haai tihoon taavre |

Bhootanikee aapnee paraayekee kripanidhaan,

Jaaniyat sabheekee reeti Ram Raavre||

God knows whether it is the terrifying form of kaal (eventual fate) or the harshness of karmas or actions, the effect of sins,or the madness characteristic of nature.I am having excruciating pain day in and day out, which is unbearable. And it has gripped the same arm which Pavan Kumar (a title of Hanumanji, son of the wind god) had held. The tree of Tulsi has actually been planted by you.

It has withered because of being charred by the three fevers (adhyatmika, adhidaivika, and adhibhautika). Looking intently, water it with your grace. Oh Ramchandraji, the repository of mercy! You very well know your own ways and the ways of those who have been deserted plus evil spirits.

Shri Ramraksha Stotra: 37th Verse

Ramo Rajmani sadaa vijayate Ramam Ramesham bhaje

Ramenaa bhihtaa nishaacharchamoo Ramaay tasmai namah

Ramannaasti paraayanam partaram Ramasya daasosmyaham

Rame Chittalayah sadaa bhavtu me bho Ram maamudhhar ||

Shri Ramji, most excellent of the kings, is always triumphant. I sing a devotional song for the husband of Laxmi (wife of Vishnu, Rama was an incarnation of Vishnu).I make obeisance to Ramchandraji who had ruined all the troops of demons. There is no greater refuge than Rama.I attend to the needs of that Ramchandraji. May my mind always be steeped in Rama; Oh Ram! Please lead me to salvation. This verse unveils all the seven declensions of the singular word Rama and mentions one way of remembering them.

Shri Hanuman Bahuk: 38th Verse

Paayanpeer petpeer baanhpeer munhpeer,

Jarjar sakal sareer peermaee haai |

Dev bhoot pitar karam khal kaal grah,

Mohipar davri damaanak see daee haai ||

Haaun to bin molke bikaano bali baarehee tain,

Aot Ramnaamkee lalaat likhi laee haai |

Kumbhajke kinkar bikal boodhe gookhurani,

Haay Ramraay aisee haal kahoon bhaee haai ||

Ache in the feet, pain in the stomach, aching arms and a face which hurts-the entire body is writhing in pain and has become decrepit.Gods, evil spirits, paternal ancestors, karmas (actions), kaal (eventual destiny) and base planets-are touring together and firing a volley of cannons at me. I implore devotedly! Ever since boyhood I am your slave for no price in particular and I have written the name of Rama on my brow (destiny) as my patron.

Sage Agastya

Alas king Ramchandraji! Has such a miserable state every arisen that a devotee of sage Agastya (greatest of the seven sages) has been drowned in anxiety?

Shri Ramraksha Stotra: 38th Verse

Ram Rameti Rameti Ramey Rame manoramey I

Sahastra naam tatulyam Ram naam varaananey ||

Lord Vishnu
Shri Mahadevji confirms to Parvatiji, “Oh beautiful one! Chanting the name of Rama is equivalent to reciting the 'Vishnu Sahasranama' or the thousand names of Vishnu. Invariably I say,'Ram Ram Ram' and dally in the delightful name of Rama in this manner."
