Shri Radha Kripakataksha Stotra: 9th shloka

Nitambbimbalambmaanpushpmekhlaagunh,

Prashastratankinkinheekalaapmadhyamanjule.

Kareendrashundh danidhkaavrohsaubhgoruke-

Kadaa karishyaseeh maan kripakatashabhaajnam.

Studded with precious stones and golden flowers, a bejewelled girdle adorns Shri Radha's waist. Its ravishing melody sings the glories of Priyaji and the zone of bells always clinging onto Priyaji, celebrates its great good fortune. One does not know whether it reveals the delicate tenderness of Shri Radha's supple limbs or passionately drawing the supreme lover with its tinkling sound, gives rise to a new playfull dalliance.

Probably it is a war drum heralding the onset of Kamdev's battle, affirms Lord Rama. The supreme lover, Krishna, ardently longing to relish this romantic combat, instantly arrives at the love arena. Kamdev's five arrows scared by his piercing glance, retreat. And soon after the...amorous frolic...a romantic dalliance begins. The lovers, Shri Radha-Krishna, foray into this battle-field cautiously.

They are not negligent in their love-play but vigilance does not work here. Over and over again Shri Radha-Krishna's embarrassed eyes smile; shy laughter invading their lips gives rise to a new oversight, probably construed as caution in this realm.

Engrossed in this combat are the supreme lover and his beloved...The moment they fondle each other, the girdle chimes and intense passion, startles both of them. Apprehensive that it is the sound of some sakhi's zone of bells...and instantly they spot the exotic girdle of Priyaji. It sounds ravishingly again, thrilled on seeing their eyes rove around frantically, their innocence...Radha's shyly sweet face. A new romantic sentiment...the terrifying rush of love can not be contained and the enraptured pair expand on a new amorous frolic.

In the midst of this episode, the frenzied zone of bells'...resound the enchanting song of Shri Radha-Krishna's romantic dalliance in the nikunja. The lovers startled by the love-alarm, take off this tell-tale girdle and keep it aside; it has no place in their love-exchange. Crazily it was hampering their love-sport...chirping about their divine dalliance in the entire forest...propagating its envious good fortune. No this would not have been the reason.

The girdle was well aware of the tender limbs of Shri Radha-Krishna. The bejewelled, golden bells could hurt their delicate bodies, it warned...and its tinkling could do no harm as the forest was isolated. But if the intoxicated golden flower ornaments marked their blue-hued and fair-complexioned frames, the entire sakhi clan would ridicule the lover and his beloved.

And pinpoint to Kishoriji,' Please be sensible. Look at your condition.' And Shri Radhika's embarrassment would escalate with their sarcasm, 'Shyam Sundar! Be careful...don't you know...our Radha is very delicate and you invariably give in to intense passion...'

To save them from this awkward state, the girdle tinkled and the passionately enraptured lovers came to their senses...took it off and kept it aside...She had done them a favour...it was not correct to distance it totally... she could observe this romantic dalliance...ecstatic with their touch... instrumental in their amorous frolic...Does sacrifice ever go waste?

Shri Radha-Krishna were not indifferent towards her. And guess what? The supreme rasika tied her around his waist...she sang melodiously again in joyous abandon. Soon enough a new playfull dalliance began...the same ardent longing... with the Yugal absorbed in fresh episodes of love-play. They had no inkling when the girdle removed from the waist, sat on some bush nearby or mingled with other ornaments to become a silent onlooker.

Who can give an account of Shri Radha's thighs, supple like an intoxicated elephant's trunk? Surprisingly, it is the device of an enchanting gait. Probably madhurya or sweet love is full of astonishing escapades in the realm of love. The girdle freed the waist and enhanced the ravishing beauty of Radha's supple thighs, and the rush of love was terrifying.

Once again the charming cycle began...entangled and at peace, bound and free at times, the supreme lover and his beloved riding on surges of action-rest, triumphing over Kamdev the god of love, flying the flag of their romantic dalliance, reached the heights of elation and ecstasy.

A particle of their love-episode can enchant the entire world...steep devotees in their love and make them reach the deeper ecstasies of devotion with energy and joyfulness. 'When will the compassionate Shri Radhika, representing the highest ideal of religious rapture experienced through the sentiment of sweet romance, be moved towards us?'

Shri Radha Kripakataksha Stotra: 8th shloka

Suvaranhmaalikanichate trirekhkambukanhthage,

Trisootramangaleegunh triratandeeptideedhiti.

Salolneelkuntale prasoonguchgumifate,

Kadaa karishyaseeh maan kripakatakshbhaajnam.

'Adorned with gold necklaces, wearing an auspicious mangalsutra (a string tied by a bridegroom round his bride's neck, to be worn as long as the husband lives) three-stringed with three gems dangling, around her three-lined conch shell like neck and gay flowers decking her flowing tresses in a graceful order,is Shri Radhika the epitome of perfect beauty! When will you consider us worthy recipients of your graceful glance and make us ecstatic with a ray of your favour?'

Her innately divine saffron limbs glow due to the gold necklaces...Jewels cannot accentuate her beauty but rather become radiant because of her closeness. Another underlying reason for their decking up is...they long for some blue-hued god to caress them...be fondled by his love-laden touch.

Romantic dallying is probably the innate nature of the lover and his beloved. Smoothing the loose dishevelled clothes, taking off-draping, a terrifying rush of love make the necklaces constantly delighted...their good fortune is unique since other ornaments can not gather the charming rapture. Their colour quality becomes radiant with the intimacy of their beloved's limbs and give in to more pleasure when the capricious handsome Krishna struggles...swings them...arranges them...entangles their order after straightening them...and now adjusts them after spoiling their sequence.

Shri Radha's neck is shaped like a conch shell. Just as three lines wind around the conch, three strings bedeck her neck...which seem golden in the reflection of gold ornaments. A mangalsutra encircles this holy neck. The bestower of good fortune to all auspicious occasions, an epitome of great good fortune is the daughter of Vrashbhanu.

Radha wears the string with the blessings of her paramour; for the well-being of Krishna, the conferrer and relisher of good luck. He may be God...the Supreme Being for devotees... Lord of the world...the Trinity(Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh) can deal with him. Above all, Shri Krishna is the darling of his affectionate followers...Pranvallabha or supreme lover of his beloveds...so Radha wishes good luck and good fortune for him and none other.

Three gems, sapphire, coral and diamond, dangle from the mangalsura. A blue tinge escalates from Radha's divine garments...a yellow lustre radiates from ornaments adorning her limbs, and the two colours combine to suffuse a green gleam. Though several other hues and passions fuse... wearing pearls and flowers of various colours, the blood-red hue tinting the soles of her feet and a bright lustre sparkles from the nails...innately red lips like a betel leaf detail a new redness.

Wearing a sapphire on the head, a blue hue suffuses the raven black tresses...Thus Shri Radhika is the auspicious abode of several colors but three are dominant. Shri Radha's graceful mannerisms, self-assurance and blissful energy, add to the majesty of her mangalsutra.

Flowing dark-blue tresses...why not black? In the light of the head ornament studded with a sapphire, her ravishing hair look blue-black. The Shri Radha Ashtakam mentions 'Neelalkavrinmukhe'. Constantly immersed in Krishna, the blue-hued ocean, an innate blue tinge cascades from her fragrant limbs...her dress up...her ornaments...Due to her golden lustre it appears green tinged several times.

Prasoonguchgumifate! Her hair adorned with bunches of flowers is not good fortune by itself...but the fact that the supreme lover has arranged them in a graceful order several times with his own lotus hands. The very first time he met his heart's beloved, the impassioned god had adorned her with blossoms. Entangling the flower garland in her flowing hair, he was captivated repeatedly. He had disentangled them to be enraptured again.

Once revered Sakhaji narrated that Shri Radhika waiting for her lover, rested her head on a boulder and lay down in a nikunja or bower. Krishna had seen her entering and she very well knew he would come soon. It is not tough to pass eras of expectancy but moments seem daunting.

Engrossed, she shut her eyes and lay down...One end of the dupatta or veil draped her shoulder and lay behind and the other end was tucked beneath her. Meanwhile the supreme rasika arrived stealthily and sat beside her, leaning back. She was startled with the terrifying rush of love, the lustful lover's closeness; reaching the heights of elation and ecstasy.

Krishna had selected blossoms and got them. Resting an arm on her, he took out flowers from her tangled hair and planted them in his own curls, with the other. He wove new fresh blossoms in her beautiful hair; adorning the fragrant flowing tresses. With this innovative stratagem, Krihsna dressed his beloved and decked his chest with impassioned Radha, the paragon of shangar.

'Salolneelkuntale prasoonguchgumifate' what does it mean?Being caressed by Radha's lotus hands, the stresses strut around affectedly...and a lock caresses her cheeks. Probably peeping to inspect the cheeks' virtues which captivate the infatuated lover. Precisely as intoxicated black bees dance with delight after sipping nectar...these blue-hued hair flow, steeped in the romantic sentiment.

Or ecstatic they invite the supreme lover...sort of giving a message. Krishna is supremely accomplished in construing gestures...and showers his love constantly on the flowing tresses...since they spur him to relish the love-play.

When will such a beautifully adorned Shri Radha, the paragon of shangar make us rapturous by a bit of her grace; so that we also become a cause of decking up and are blessed in the process.

Shri Radha Kripakataksha Stotra: 7th shloka

Mrinhaal-vaal-vallaree-tarang-rang-dorlate.

Latagralasya-lol-neel-lochnavalokne.

Lallulanimalanmnogya-mughd-mohnashraye-

kadaa karishyaseeh maan kripakatashabhaajnam.

'The one whose rounded-innately affectionate arms resemble lotus clusters and shiver like lotus stalks swaying in gushing water.Thrilled with the mere thought of enfolding enigmatic Krishna and relishing a new amorous frolic today, these creepers long to wind around some blue-shrub. When the supreme lover arrives, the ecstasy of this ardent longing can't be described.'

Priyaji is stupefied because of the terrifying rush of love. Mute as a picture; enraptured she adulates the supreme rasika. Soon after the lovingly tender Radha shuts her eyes embarrassed due to intense passion. When the eyes turn dumb... the voice is silent...speedy heart beats sort of stop, these arms pulsate...revealing the mazes and mysteries of love.

Snuggling the blue-hued arms of spirited Krishna, the supreme lover, in her fair-complexioned embrace she gives respite to their throbbing longing.

Shri Radhika's arms are instantly adulated by the capricious handsome god...listen to the fickleness of her eyes absorbed in Krishna. The sudden love thrusts make her eyes flirtatious just as swaying lotus clusters by windy blasts.

Precisely then, blue-hued passion fills her saucer like eyes( passion is described as red-hued but absorbed in dark Krishna they glitter with a blue tinge) which spiritedly rove around. Certainly the inconstant mischievous supreme lover makes love gestures beckoning her.

The Shri Radha Ashtakam mentions that the eyes wander because Radha is hungry to reach the message site speedily. Surprisingly the feet are spurred to head straight for Krishna, the repository of passion. A receiver at one end, Shri Radha is the granter too, in reality she is multifaceted and the paragon of love. The eyes become audible (hearing is one of the traditionally recognized avenues for cultivating devotion)...ears turn into sight.

So the roving eyes are giving and receiving messages. Administering the heart's domain, the eyes become permanent captives of that supreme protector. Interpersonal romantic exchange is their temperament, being experts in the interchange of joyous abandon.

The composer explicitly details the loving impact of their fickleness. Thus the capricious handsome Krishna yearns...his intensely passionate blue-hued eyes...languish. The clever rasika passionately drawn by our Svamini, follows her around in this enraptured state.

The supreme lover's eyes, mind and soul are fused and focused on meeting his beloved...Reflections of each other,'Both are partridges (trad.supposed to feed on moonbeams) and the moon'. Delighted by dallying romantically, Shri Radha-Krishna are mutually captivated. Enraptured, the lovers relish the enchantment in various ways.

Contentment and satisfaction fly out of the nikunja; discontentment, restlessness and an ardent longing gang up and besiege the two lovers. Soon enough, an impassioned storm takes over, cascading rapture when it rains! The supreme lover is defeated in this battlefield of terrifying love. Contrarily, the reposed valiant Krishna has to seek refuge in the triumphant Svamini, who grants shelter to the enraptured god. No one can construe the mazes and mysteries of the enchanting eyes in this mysterious realm of love-play.

The ecstatic composer makes an infatuated entreaty, 'The one whose arms seem like a cluster of lotuses swaying in gushing water...whose fickle roving eyes can be likened to creepers stirred by the windy blast...which reflect the blue-hue of the supreme lover...making the supreme rasika ardently long by their love-lorn sight...and enraptured soon after he follows her...pining for Radha.

Captivating him... she makes him roam in the love-lanes- giving refuge to the fatigued lover. Shri Radhika the repository of joyous abandon...supremely compassionate...lovingly tender...the beloved of Krishna! When will you shower us with your favourable sight...gifting us the pearls of enchantment to adorn the supreme lover,Krishna, fond of romantic dalliances...

When will you cast your affectionate...closely intimate sight...making us the worthy recipients of your grace?
